THEY tell you.
................. God will not forgive you if you hold a grudge.
Matt. 6:14,15 "For IF you forgive men their trespasses, your Heavenly Father will forgive you, but if you forgive not ment their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive you."
WE want you to KNOW.
...................................you are able to forgive others (if you choose to, and you should) BECAUSE God has already forgiven you (because Christ died for your sins.)
Eph 4:32 "And be kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another even as God for Christs sake has forgiven you."

What if a Believer chooses not to forgive? Will God deal with the Believer in that area?

The only person being hurt in not extending the same forgiveness that
God extends to YOU, is the believer. He will grieve the Holy Spirit and will be reminded of the truth that we are to forgive others as God in Christ HAS FORGIVEN US. As we grow in grace, these truths become cemented, precept upon precept.
God will never again deal with the believer with regard to SIN. He will however, lead the believer to the truths that tell him that he no longer belongs to himself but to God, as he has been bought with a price and is to glorify GOD in his body; not his own sinful wishes.
As a believer learns the Word and applies it, this area will become a no brainer. Not that we don't ever have to face the temptation to hold a grudge again, as people will always be there to disappoint and hurt us, but with regard to our thinking being changed to align with His.
Does this make sense?

Yes, I understand that! I thought that was how God dealt with us, so that makes sense. The thing is, as I go back to my friend, she said that God will take whatever sin or whatever is that has not been dealt with, and take us through it because He knows what we did in the past. . .(of course HE does!) and that He goes over and over it with us until we left go of whatever is holding us back from going forward. She didn't give any scriptural ref on this.

Hey Diana,
She has been taught this BY someone, because its NOT in the Bible.
Ask her if she wants to believe GOD, or what someone has obviously TOLD her.
God says that He does not remember her sins and has removed them as far as the east is from the west.
God says that He has made her the very righteousness of Himself in Christ. Is He lying?
Why would he bring something UP, that He died to take AWAY?
She has been taught somewhere that the Holy Spirit convicts her of UNCONFESSED sin.
The believers sins are all under the blood of Christ and God never brings them to our attention. She needs to nail this down if she is serious about believing God..."without faith it is impossible to please Him."

LOL, she said that this is part of sanctification.
I have totally come to believe that our sins had been dealt with at the cross when we come to salvation. Everything she was telling me did not sound scriptural, but I didn't say anything to her. . .at least not yet.
I know there is a prideful-fleshly thing she has, but she doesn't see it. I guess she wants to be right about everything, but at the same time, she say's she only wants what the Lord wants.
I'm going to wait for her to email me all the scriptures to back up what she say's she learned. I'll post her email here.
Thanks Christine!
Hugs!!

What kind of a church does she attend? She is being fed this tripe from somewhere, and encouraged to follow her flesh instead of sound doctrine....do you know what denomination she is in?

The bible describes those who go on their emotions and who aren't aware that God has told us HOW to study our bibles:
They "have a zeal for God but WITHOUT knowledge."
Thank the Lord you are out of that mindset, Diana...ya know? One look at this other lady will tell you where you would have ended up.
Not a pretty picture.

As long as she is satisfied with her "experience" she will not seek truth. See how devious satan and his plan of evil really IS?

I agree! I believe now after all this time that she has been deceived and is still being deceived. Even thought she talks alot about how she loves the Lord and all she wants is what He wants her to do, there is something that is just eery to me when she talks.
I never thought I would ever say that about her, but if I was still where she is now, I would think she was right about everything.
I wanted to tell her that I believe the Lord separated us for a reason. . .now I know He did. . . for a reason. . so I can come to understand His truth!!

Oh most definitely, hon. Try sharing with her, and tell her that if she truly wants to do what the Lord wants her to do, she will be willing to "change her mind" and base her belief system on Gods Word rightly divided instead of an emotionally driven belief system based on every wind of doctrine under the sun.
Be there when she burns out...cuz its GONNA happen.
