Those churches who still speak in tongues, and prophecy, what is behind that?  That's the kind of church I came from.  They were big on prophecy and still do.

Up until Kab and Glenda showed us right dividing, John and I were still holding on to the word we got where John was going to start his own business!! LOL!!!
I was also told that if I took care of Gods' children that He would give me children of my own.  Talk about works!!!!

Good morning, Diana!
The church where I attended was not much on prophecy, they left that to Nostradamus, I reckon. But, they were VERY big on tongues, and especially tongues and interpretations, where someone says something unintelligible, and then someone else, or even the same person will translate to English. I allowed myself to be tormented for over a year, because as many times as someone laid hands on me, or even several someones, I never had any inclination to tongues, which, according to their interpretation, was "proof" of being filled with the Holy Ghost.
It was not until God allowed me to find right division, that I realized that the word "proof" should have been a red flag for me, as we walk by faith alone, and not by sight.
As for prophecy, there was too much room for error, I guess. They were never much on that, except to say that it was what you should pray for as your spiritual gift.

It hurts my heart to see all of those people, many of whom I have come to know and love very much (I surely did not know them all, for there are over 700 people that attend services there), are trying to operate in the wrong program. My gosh, at the very least, they are complicating salvation, and at the very worst, many will not even find it!!

I thought to go and talk to the pastor, but who am I to tell that man that he is wrong?? He has been pastoring that church for over 25 years, and he will never change the way they operate!
Wow, ya talk about food for thought.....

You are more than welcome, Darryl.  I helps to have a clear understanding of where the SIGN GIFTS were employed and why. Then we don't put expectations on God that He never promised to us in the first place. We are told to walk by faith and not by sight and that His grace IS sufficient for all our needs.
