Yes ...... the gay thing again. I am having a hard time reconciling some things here!

We, as right dividers, do our best to follow the apostle Paul, as he follows the risen Christ, right? When learning from Paul, we are taught that salvation is a gift. We are taught that it has NOTHING to do with what we DO. We are taught that we are forgiven for ALL trespasses, past, present, and future. We are taught that our sins can NOT cause us to lose salvation, because it is a gift, and WE, as believers, are sealed unto the day of redemption. We are taught that this applies to EVERYONE that believes!

So............. it ALSO must apply to people that struggle with homosexuality, right? This has REALLY been bothering me!I try and try to EXCLUDE them in these teachings of Paul, but CAN we exclude ANY people that believe that our Lord died for their sins?

Yahoo Answers has a large gay user populace. I see all these questions from atheists, that always attempt to show a "double standard", if you will, by Christians. What follows is an answer that I gave about "gay affirming churches" that was asked by an atheist. If I am wrong in my answer, please correct me! I sincerely seek truth here, and nothing more.

The question was: "Are gay affirming churches defeating their purpose, since very few gays attend church?" My answer was:

It could be that guilt is doing its job. Being gay is no different to God, than being a fornicator, or a liar, or a thief.
The apostle Paul teaches us that at the moment that we believed in the Gospel of the Grace of God, given to Paul by the risen Christ, to give to us, that person is saved. This includes thieves. This includes prostitutes. This includes ALL sinners ............ and so this includes homosexuals.

The Law says that homosexuality is an abomination before God. This is not debatable. It is not questionable, as many seem to think. Many lies are told about this being taken out of context, or that it is mistranslated, or so on. Not true. The LAW states that homosexuality is an abomination. The sin that lies within is the sin of fornication. "Abomination" simply means "disgusting".

The apostle Paul teaches us that the Law is a schoolmaster to bring us to the grace of the Lord Jesus; and that once we are in the grace of the Lord Jesus, we are no longer under the schoolmaster. This means exactly what it says.

If you will read the first letter from Paul to the church at Corinth, you will learn of a man that was having sex with his father's wife. Paul rightly told them that they should shun this man, for Paul had warned them to not let fornication be named once among them. What you may not know about this, is that the man repented, and the Corinthian church refused to accept the man back into their church........... and so it was that when Paul wrote a second letter to the Corinthians, he set them straight, because Paul knew firsthand that fellowship was extremely important, and because the man had repented, that the man should rightfully be re-instated in the church. Paul never once said that this man would go to hell for his sin, because the man was a believer, and believers are secure in their salvation! We are "sealed unto the day of redemption, when Christ comes to redeem His purchased possession".

Homosexuals are no different than this man in the Corinthian church. The sin is exactly the same ...... fornication. And just as the man from Corinth, homosexuals that believe in the finished work of Christ on the cross are saved, just as Paul writes. It is a gift, APART from anything that men DO!

But also, like the man, his/her brothers and sisters in Christ should try to show this man/woman that he/she needs to lay down the sin that he or she is in bondage to, instead of telling them that it is OK. Because that believer, even though they are saved, WILL have to give account to the Lord Jesus, for the deeds that they have done in His name! They shall either reap rewards for good works, or suffer loss, for works that were not good, but they themselves SHALL be saved, as if by fire, as Paul teaches in 1 Corin. 3:15.

This is my understanding of what I have learned, since I began studying the word of God, rightly divided? Is my understanding flawed?

Nope....you did fine and your understanding is balanced and scriptural.

Homosexuality and its ensuing struggle is as any other sin is to God. Grace covers it and if the practice is continued, one must question the level of ones understanding of GRACE. This is where it truly is NOT a license to sin.

You are right on the money with your assessment, Darryl.

I miss ya...glad to see you back in here. You doin ok otherwise?Huh
